Reserve a Budget Geneva Airport Car Hire Swiss Side deal. This is a practical, UK-focused guide. It covers: where to find the desk on arrival, how to get to P51 for the car, and how to return without ending up in terminal drop-off loops.

Budget Swiss-side location (what to expect)
- Airport sector: Swiss side (arrival level).
- Counter clue: Budget’s own directions typically say to exit the arrivals hall and you’ll find the desk nearby (follow “Car rental / Location de voitures” signs once landside).
- Where the cars usually are: Swiss-side rentals commonly hand over and take returns in P51 (a multi-storey car park about a short distance from Terminal 1).
Pickup walkthrough (from landing to driving away)
1) Find the Budget desk (Swiss side)
- Land, clear passport control if required, collect bags, and walk out into the public arrivals area.
- Stay in the main Swiss terminal (do not follow “Secteur France / Gate F” signs).
- Follow signs for Car rental / Location de voitures on the arrivals level and look for Budget among the desks.
2) Do these checks at the counter (saves arguments later)
- Return place: confirm it states Geneva Airport (Swiss side) and references P51 or Swiss-side return signage.
- Deposit rules: confirm the card requirement (usually a credit card in the main driver’s name).
- Cross-border note: if you will drive into France/Italy, ask for this to be recorded on the rental agreement.
- Out-of-hours plan: ask where the key drop is and what “after-hours return” means in practice (photos + where to park).
3) Getting to the car in P51
- After paperwork, follow the desk instructions for reaching P51 (there is often either a short shuttle or a signed walking route depending on time/operations).
- Inside P51, follow brand signage to the Budget area.
- Before you start the engine: take photos of all sides, wheels, windscreen, fuel gauge and odometer.
Return directions (Budget Swiss side)
Best “sat nav” setting
For drop-off, aim for P51 Geneva Airport rather than “Geneva Airport Terminal”. Terminal routing can send you into passenger drop-off lanes and cost time.
Step-by-step return process
- Approach the airport from your route and follow signs for P51 / Car rental return.
- Enter P51 and follow Retour véhicules / Car return signage to the rental return area.
- Park in the Budget return bays (or the shared return area if instructed on signage).
- Take final photos (fuel + mileage + exterior), remove belongings, then return keys at the desk if open or use the key drop procedure noted on your agreement.
Two UK traveller tips that prevent most desk delays
- Name match: ensure the main driver’s licence name matches the payment card used for the deposit (even small variations can trigger checks).
- Winter kit: if you’re heading to mountain resorts, confirm what’s fitted (winter tyres) and whether chains are supplied/required for your planned route.
Common problems (and quick fixes)
- “My phone keeps routing me to Departures” → change destination to P51 and follow car-return signs near the airport.
- “I’m at the terminal drop-off lanes” → do not enter short-stay drop-off; loop out and re-follow signs for P51 / Location de voitures.
- “I booked the wrong side (French sector)” → check your confirmation immediately; Swiss and French sectors are separate locations with different access routes.
