Cigarette Ban for Minors in Geneva

If you or one of your traveling party are a smoker then you should be aware of a recent law change in Geneva City. A recent vote in parliament has seen a law change which prohibits the sale of cigarettes to anyone under the age of 16.

The measure has been put in place with a focus on curbing addictions among young people. Geneva joins eleven other Cantons in enforcing the law however 12 still have the rule as before at 16 years of age.

So, it’s worth keeping in mind if you plan on sending your 16 year old to pick up some cigarettes or e-cigarettes from the local shop, they will likely be asked for identification.
