There was disappointment for El Al customers who had hoped to celebrate Shabbos when their flight to Israel was delayed due to fog last week.
Intense Fog Causes Redirection
The intensity of the fog greatly affected sight for pilots when conditions deteriorated rapidly.
Lyon Airport Detour
Unfortunately the flight had to be redirected to Lyon Airport. At this point it was no longer possible for passengers to get home in time for Shabbos.
Airline Statement
The airline said that the conditions were not at all predictable and pilots are not allowed to land when fog levels are so high.
Affected passengers were put up in local hotels while waiting for alternative arrangements.
