In a bold move that is sure to provoke controversy, Geneva City will block the least Eco-friendly cars from entering the city at certain times due to high levels of pollution.
The new rules will come into operation in mid January 2020. The system will work by having 6 levels as to how friendly to the environment your vehicle is. A green sticker means most Eco-friendly while gray means the opposite.
The city plans to issue warning when smogs levels are particularly high. The system will work by first stopping cars with the grey sticker from entering the city between the hours of 6am and 10pm.
There will be heavy fines for those who choose to ignore the rules.
