Ski Resorts Face Difficult Future

It’s been a ski season to forget for every ski resort and operator in Europe and of course worldwide this year as many now face an uncertain future.

The huge financial blow dealt by the Corona Virus means companies may not survive.

Efforts continue to get customers home as quickly as possible. The speed at which the lockdown was implemented came as a surprise to many operators who simply weren’t prepared for such huge losses.

Geneva Airport was crammed with worried holidaymakers wondering when they would get home. Traffic was very heavy on both the French side and the Swiss side. Some customers from the UK took long coach journeys home as there simply were not enough flights.

Many of the staff at ski resorts near Geneva were foreign workers who also had to do their best to find a way home. It was a chaotic time and we can only hope for better times next season.
